Hello!

Welcome to my counselling practice. As an Integrative Person-Centred and Psychodynamic counsellor, I am committed to offering you compassion, empathy and understanding as we consider your current situation and how your challenges affect your daily life. Working together we will explore how your past experiences influence your present, leading to a greater self-awareness and greater opportunity for change.
My own journey started whilst working in pastoral roles and with young people where I had a desire to learn how to better support those I was working with. Additionally, with my own pursuit of self-discovery, it has fuelled a passion for assisting others on their own journeys. I have a love for the work that I do and feel privilaged to be able to walk alongside others.
About my Practice
Seeking counselling can be challenging, but I am here to support you at your own pace, fostering trust and providing a non-judgmental environment. My goal is to be transparent in my approach and help you understand how therapy can empower you to gain a deeper insight into yourself. I can assist with a variety of issues, including anxiety, bereavement, trauma, chronic illness, depression, suicidal thoughts, sexuality, addiction, and stress.

My qualification is a Level 4 diploma in therapeutic counselling and I have gained diverse experience by working in various environments. In addition to running my private practice, I collaborate with a local charity to help to improve accessibility to counselling services.
I have also worked in a drug and alcohol service, assisting individuals in understanding the trauma underlying their addiction.
Additionally, I have worked in an NHS-funded counselling service that is limited to six sessions, this experience has helped me to work effectively in a short time frame and adapt to both short-term and long-term work based on your needs and finances.
As a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I adhere to its Ethical Framework for best practices.

I offer sessions in person, online, or over the phone.
What to expect?
Many people come to counselling unsure of what to expect, I too have been to counselling and wondered 'what am I doing here? how will this help?'. I am here to help to put you at ease, to work in a way that feels suitable to you.
Our initial session will be about discovering what it is that has brought you to counselling, whether you have had therapy before, your worries and concerns. I believe that bringing our worries into the light can help to relieve anxieties and help me to know how best to support you. We will talk about your expectations and what you are hoping for. I will outline the way in which I work and ensure you understand and feel like this is the right fit for you.
As time goes on and trust is established we can begin to explore issues at greater depth.
What does Person Centred & Psychodynamic mean?
As you search for the right counsellor, you might find yourself uncertain about certain terms and concepts. I am trained in two modalities, which I integrate to provide a unique approach for exploring your concerns.
Person-Centered counselling focuses on the importance of the counsellor demonstrating empathy, being non-judgmental and being authentic. We concentrate on the present moment, examining the feelings that arise when specific issues are discussed. By creating a space where you feel understood and free to express your true emotions, you can begin to connect with your authentic self. As you practice this with me, you'll be better equipped to apply it to your other relationships and areas of life.
Psychodynamic therapy acknowledges that you are shaped by your past experiences, especially during your formative years. As we delve into present issues, we may identify patterns influenced by your past experiences. This increased awareness allows us to evaluate whether these patterns are still relevant and if the defense’s you've developed to protect yourself are helping you or harming you and are they still needed.
